Malibu Pier
Malibu Pier
Print on Archival Paper: 20 x 24"
The Malibu Pier was built in 1905 purely for commercial purposes by its owner Frederick Hastings Rindge. In 1934 it was opened to the public for pier and charter fishing. After Rindge went bankrupt in the 1930’s the pier was taken over by financial backers until it was sold to William Huber after World War II for $50,000.
Huber expanded the pier and added the iconic buildings that are there to this day. Huber owned the pier for 40 years until ultimately selling it to the State of California in 1980. The L.A. County Supervisors voted to preserve the pier and register it as a Point of Historical Interest in 1985.
